WRIGLEY'S New Partner: The Schuylkill River Heritage Area
Posted 2014-01-07 by Blake Wrigley in Community

WRIGLEY'S is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Schuylkill River National & State Heritage Area. We are excited to support and spread word of this organization which does so much to brighten and energize our community. A percentage of our earnings will be given so that their vision and mission can continue to grow and flourish.

The Schuylkill River Heritage Area, whose offices are located in Pottstown next to Riverfront Park, uses “conservation, education, recreation, historic and cultural preservation, and tourism as tools for community revitalization and economic development.” One of the ways they do this includes their signature project the Schuylkill River Trail where you can hike, bike, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The trail currently is about 60 miles long and the Schuylkill River Heritage Area is working with different partner organizations to complete the trail so that it will extend the entire length of the river. The SHRA also hosts a week-long, 112 mile kayak trip every year in June. On this trip, the Schuylkill River Sojourn, you can kayak for one day or sign up for the entire week.

As well as helping others to build community and experience the outdoors, the Schuylkill River Heritage Area also allows people to explore the historic past. Not only does the Heritage Area include 54 National Historic Landmarks, it also now has a River of Revolutions Interpretive Center that is open to the public. This attraction can be found at the Pottstown location and reveals the role the Schuylkill River and the surrounding area played during the American, Industrial, and Environmental Revolutions. Stop by to check it out and learn more!

We here at WRIGLEY'S hope that you take advantage of these exciting projects and events. The SHRA does such a great job at connecting Southeastern Pennsylvanians with the historic past, the cultural present, and the vibrant natural world we find ourselves in and we are proud to support their work. Don’t wait until spring to get out and enjoy what our Heritage Area has to offer. Dress warm and explore!
