Budapest and Delicious Hungarian Food
Posted 2015-10-12 by Bret Wrigley in General

During my recent trip to Budapest, many of my best experiences centered around food (go figure!) I shopped the famous Great Market Hall with its tantalizing array of fruits, vegetables and spices, and then participated in an afternoon of cooking at the Chefparade Cooking School, where I learned the best cooking practices used to create delicious, traditional Hungarian foods.

Allow me to share my newly acquired recipes with you:

Creamy Mushroom Paprikash

Serves 4

This is a flavorful mushroom stew, one of the staple foods of Hungarian cuisine. It’s an easy to make vegetarian dish, with onions, mushrooms and tomatoes being the major players. Add yellow pepper, red paprika, parsley, sour cream and egg noodles, and voila – there you have it! Mushroom Paprikash!

Pork Ragout Brasso Style

Serves 4

The fragrance of garlic, onions, majoram and pork stewing will make your mouth water!
This is another very simple recipe, with pork, potatoes and onions being the main ingredients.
This is going to be a cold-weather favorite for me!

Everytime I make one of these dishes, the sounds, sights, and smells of Budapest come bubbling to the surface. I hope, you too, will get a chance to visit this intriguing city. Enjoy!
