Keep Things in Perspective This Thanksgiving
Posted 2015-11-23 by Blake Wrigley in General

There is so much anger, conflict, and hurt in the world right now. The past few weeks, months, and even the past year as a whole has been filled with stories of hate, stories of despair, stories of misunderstandings and blame. Whether in our own country or overseas in places that we know little about, the world can seem chaotic and, well, sad.

It is easy to become numb to all these stories and all the bad news. It’s even easier to ignore all of it, to put blinders on and pretend that everything is okay. This is understandable and maybe even necessary at times. But we cannot always do this. When we ignore the world’s problems, we start to lose our compassion and we cut ourselves off from possibly being part of the solutions. We also lose perspective.

This Thanksgiving, challenge yourself to sit with the world’s hurts for just a little while. Challenge yourself to look at your life within a broader context, a larger worldview. This allows for true gratitude and thankfulness. There is much to be grateful and thankful for.

Eat, drink, be merry,  and keep things in perspective.
