Schuylkill River Heritage Area: New Directions
Posted 2016-01-15 by Blake Wrigley in Educational Environment

The Schuylkill River Heritage Area, based in Pottstown, has a new executive director: Silas Chamberlin. The work SRHA does in our local communities is important to us here at WRIGLEY’s and we are proud to support Silas and his team. We recently reached out to SRHA to get some information about their new leader and to find out what’s in store for 2016.

Silas Chamberlin, of Allentown, holds a doctorate in environmental history from Lehigh University. He was previously the senior director for the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor and most recently a regional advisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. SRHA is confident that Silas is the right man to carry on their mission for the Schuylkill River Valley.

Along with SRHA’s signature project, the 130-mile Schuylkill River Trail, 2016 promises to be another year filled with environmental stewardship initiatives and community-building events. SRHA will continue its mission to clean and restore the river with the Schuylkill River Restoration Fund. Also, SRHA and Pottstown’s Sly Fox Brewery will host the SRT Spree and Ride for the River this year, providing more fun ways to explore the river and trail. SRHA will again hosts successful events such as the Schuylkill River Sojourn and the Scenes of the Schuylkill art show.

And more is in store as well! We are excited to see what new directions Silas and his staff will take SRHA into this new year and on into the future. Keep up to date with progress and events at www.schuylkillriver.org and remember to keep exploring!
