Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation
Summertime is officially here, bringing with it great times with friends and family. Summer is also the perfect time to get outside, get active, and to get involved in your community. The Pottstown Health & Wellness Foundation, located on E. High Street, is an organization that encourages just that and we here at Wrigley’s are proud to support their efforts.Replica iwc watches
The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation provides opportunities for our community to enthusiastically embrace a healthier lifestyle, serving Pottstown and a 10-mile radius around the borough. Their mission is to enhance the health and wellness of area residents, providing education, funding and programs that motivate people to adopt healthy lifestyles. Since 2004, the Foundation has awarded $32.5 million dollars in grants to more than 150 organizations.
This summer, the Foundation is organizing a few events that will continue to further their mission. The Foundation is partnering with MOSAIC Community Land Trust and Building a Better Boyertown to host the 2017 Home Garden Contest. This event educates the community as to the benefits of gardening, helps to beautify the boroughs, and fosters camaraderie among participants. Registration ends June 23rd!
On July 1, the Foundation will launch its 5th Annual On Your Park, Get Set, GO!® Contest. This is a regional competition, where municipalities (located within the Foundation’s service area) vie to win grant funds for park improvements. The contest was created to encourage residents to visit their local parks, promoting physical activity and community pride. On Your Park runs the entire month of July and features a scavenger hunt-like structure with 12 participating parks this year. “ParKticipants” can visit parks across the region and cast votes for their favorites. Follow the Foundation on Facebook for more information!
Finally on August 15 and 16, the Foundation will host its annual Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds™ institute (HBHM) at Pottstown Middle School. HBHM is a two-day conference designed to nurture the interdisciplinary roles of school personnel in the adoption of physical activity as a learning tool. Attendees will experience dynamic, informative workshops, physical activities, productive planning sessions while learning how to infuse wellness into the classroom culture from colleagues and expert presenters. So get involved with Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation this summer to get active, be healthy, and have some fun!
