Autumn - Our Favorite Season
Autumn - Why It's Our Favorite Season
Posted 2018-09-10 by Bambi Christman in General

Fragrant apple wood burning in the fireplace, spiced cider drinks, cheese-filled casseroles - these are a few of our favorite Autumn things!  Autumn is the beginning of cooler evenings, colorful hillside foliage, and a delightful selection of seasonal foods. There's just so much to be happy about this time of year.

After such a green, green summer, we really look forward to seeing the explosion of colors in Pennsylvania. We highly recommend a visit to Jim Thorpe for their Fall Foliage Festival and make sure you take the train ride through the Lehigh Gorge – simply breathtaking!

Autumn is one of the best times of the year for spicy, chili that warms you from the top of your head to the tips of your toes, hearty soups with warm, buttered bread, cheese-filled casseroles and SWEET DESSERTS: caramel apples, pumpkin pie, apple pie – heck, any kind of pie topped with whipped cream!

Don’t you just love the smell of apple wood burning in the fireplace? Even if you aren’t fortunate enough to have a fireplace, evening walks through the neighborhood give you the opportunity to enjoy the fragrance drifting through the air. Firepit gatherings are also a Fall Favorite: there’s nothing like roasting hot dogs, brats or marshmallows over an open fire.

The cooler weather also means pulling on your favorite sweater and fuzzy socks and adding blankets to the bed so you can leave the windows cracked open to enjoy the crisp air.

Autumn is filled with Oktoberfest festivities. Our Boyertown community hosts a great one and we welcome you to come enjoy our Berks County food and drink.  Next, we get to have fun with Halloween! Halloween parties are always laughter-filled, with creative costumes and even more creative food ideas. Thanksgiving comes next and we get to enjoy the best football games, gathering our family members together for the big meal, and starting our plans for Christmas!
