Continuing The Good Work of a Young Boy
Posted 2019-07-25 by Bambi Christman in Community

It is said that nothing brings a community together more strongly than tragedy. And it is with heavy hearts that our community mourns the loss of 9-year-old Preston Dray, his mother, Pamela Snyder, and his unborn baby sister, Evelyn, to a flash flood incident in July 11th.  However, our community – and many surrounding communities – are working hard to keep the young boy’s legacy alive.

In 2018, Preston Dray ran a food drive for the Boyertown Area Multi-Service as a school project. After learning about this, a small group of residents decided the best way to honor the boy and his family is by holding a drive of their own.

Within hours of the announcement of the 1st Annual Preston Dray Memorial Food Drive, dozens of local businesses placed donation boxes in their facilities, and within a week, over 100 businesses offered to be drop-off points for donations.

The volume of donations already collected is impressive. Donations will be delivered to the Boyertown Multi-Service on Aug. 18. On that day, the group will host a sorting and organizing party in the Boyertown Multi-Service parking lot, 200 Spring St, Boyertown, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is expected to include music and food trucks as volunteers work to organize the donations.

We are so grateful to be part of this community and so very proud of how quickly the people of this community sprang into action to show their support and love to Preston's family.  Our residents, our business owners, and our neighboring communities are committed to continuing the legacy of "Preston's Pantry Project",
